Laura  Wood, Ph.D.

Laura Wood, PhD is a licensed psychologist and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah/Primary Children’s Hospital. She specializes in neurodevelopmental monitoring, supports, and outcomes for children from neonatal and cardiac intensive care units. Within the Developmental Assessment Clinic (DAC), Dr. Wood works with families in the NICU Follow-Up Program and the Heart Center Neurodevelopmental Program. Additionally, Dr. Wood is embedded in the Primary Children's Heart Center and provides psychosocial and neurodevelopmental support to children and their families before, during, and after heart surgery. Through clinical practice, research, and advocacy, Dr. Wood is committed to improving awareness of and access to quality developmental supports. 

Dr. Wood earned her M.Ed. and Ph.D. in School Psychology from Georgia State University. She completed her predoctoral internship in Behavioral Pediatrics and Integrated Care at Munroe-Meyer Institute/University of Nebraska Medical Center and her postdoctoral pediatric psychology fellowship in the Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Program at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard University.  During her graduate training, Dr. Wood had the opportunity to be a trainee in both the Georgia and Nebraska LEND programs.
