Professional Trainees come from a background with a Core LEND Discipline and are graduate-level students, graduates, or working professionals. Core LEND Disciplines include:
Things to Know
Time Commitment: 300 hours over two semesters.
Semesters: Fall and Spring semesters run August thru April.
Stipend: A stipend is available to most trainees.
College degree/program completion from an accredited college or university (foreign acceptable).
Documentation of acceptance or enrollment in a graduate program in a Core Discipline; OR academic degree and training that constitutes the basic professional-level training for their field.
Post-masters and post-doctoral fellows must have an earned masters or doctorate and completed any required internship.
Post-residency fellows must have an earned medical or dental degree and have satisfied requirements for certification in a relevant specialty.
Citizen or legal resident of the United States in order to be paid a stipend.
Available Friday afternoons for fall and spring semester from 12-4 Mountain Time to attend seminars.
Commitment to complete 300 hours of training.
Must be able to provide documentation of immunity to or vaccination for: covid, flu, pertussis, varicella, and MMR; exemptions are not possible.
Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
Demonstrated Leadership Skills
Evidence of advanced written and oral communication skills with professionals, peers, families, and service providers.
Evidence of leadership in professional roles, academics, community, and so forth as commensurate with level of training and experience.
Evidence of initiative in academic, clinical, or research work.
Evidence of the ability to work effectively in groups/teams as well as independently.
Previous experience and/or strong interest in working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities.
Understanding of and ability to identify system needs and improvement areas for individuals with disabilities or children with special health care needs.
Self-defined leadership goals in the disabilities field and/or public health.
Should be able to be flexible and adaptable combined with persistence.
